  1. You come across as very confident and professional throughout your vlog. I liked hearing about your current progress in your choreography, and I am looking forward to seeing the end result. I also like the way you're using the same choreographic process as your chosen choreographer. I also think its good that you have discussed you areas for improvement in your vlog. Well done.

  2. You are very well spoken and clear throughout your vlog and so I understand your vision for your choreographic process. How do you hope to explore conflict throughout your piece and how does this link to your idea/stimulus? I am looking forward to seeing your choreography develop.

    2. I am hoping to express a physical conflict in my piece. I have interpreted my stimulus as a being who has the disease dementia, hinted by the automated and mechanical brain where life and expression should be. The story underlying my piece is the progression of the illness.
The character I am going to play will be in conflict with them self, fighting to keep control of their body. I will deliver movements that suggest dysfunction - for example being dragged by my arm. However, the outcome will be loss of control, loss of identity and loss of hope. The unwinnable fight results in an oblivious being just waiting for their body to completely shut down. To express this idea I have included a ticking clock at the very end of my dance.
I feel that conflict is my vehicle of expression, my way to project tormented feelings to the audience.

  3. I also struggle with repeating myself while improvising and this comes into my choreography too. What movements do you tend to repeat and how have you tried to avoid this while creating your piece?

    1. I feel that I tend to repeat the standard movements such as kicks, leaps and arm gestures that may come across as a little hackneyed since they lack meaning. I have therefore tried to insert smaller, detailed movements like a shoulder lift or head movement in order to add variety and a different dynamic to otherwise regular movements. Changing energy levels seems to change the meaning of the movement and brings focus onto the specific emotions I am trying to portray.

  4. Well done! You have clearly thought about what you want to convey in your piece and i am looking forward to seeing the end result. You mentioned you are going to incorporate the choreographic devices highlights and climax', how will you do this?

    1. To create my highlights and climax I will build upon my energy levels and make sure my movements convey strong emotion – anger, confusion, fear. To do so, I intend to make an energy level graph of my piece to have a clear understanding of where and when to include my highlights and climax.
