Week 9/ Vlog

  1. You have discussed your process in detail and have explained areas have struggled with. You have mentioned you found the music difficult to choreograph to and had to create your own highs and lows. How did you go about this process?

    1. The process I used to construct the highs and lows of my piece was by listening very carefully to the music. I tried to pick up subtle base and key changes and note down when they occurred in the music. I ended up sectioning my song into six segments. The stationary introduction lasted for 25 seconds before moving onto section 2 where more movement and dynamic started to take place. The climax of the piece occurred at section five from 2:30 to 3:19. At this point, the high and low melodies joined together creating an overwhelming and powerful highlight in the song.
I feel this was a very useful task as it made me consider the structure and formation of my piece. The clear layout enabled me to really focus on the energy and strength of each section which has resulted in clear contrasts of movement.

  3. Well done on your vlog you've managed to be thorough as well as engaging. I was wondering how you objectives have changed or developed throughout the creative sessions?

    1. I feel my starting objectives have developed and changed slightly throughout the creative sessions as I have become more aware and informed about my topic. This has resulted in a development in my narrative. I have included more features which communicate the facts I had found out about dementia - for example, including a red object, falling backwards to represent a stroke, character changes and lack of 3D judgement. I feel my objectives have changed for the better. With every new piece of information, it encouraged an addition into my solo which added depth and interest.

  4. Well done Louisa, this is a very clear blog! You mentioned how you were running behind schedule, so if you were to do this again , how would you prevent this from happening? Would you set yourself a more realistic target?

    1. I think to prevent running behind schedule again, I would place a bit more trust and confidence in my ideas. My anxiety to get things right made me procrastinate a little and hindered the rate of developing choreographic material. I would also really focus on the targets set and be a little more pragmatic when laying out my timetable.

  5. This is a really clear and strong vlog and I really enjoyed watching it.
You mention that because you were slightly behind the schedule you followed you incorporated improvisation into your piece.
I just wanted to know if you have included any choreographic devices as well as improvisation?

    1. One of the creative processes I have used to choreograph is improvisation. As I said in my vlog, I do have mixed feeling about this technique. However, I also allowed the music to inspire me and my movements were influenced by adjectives. I particularly enjoyed using the adjective process and I feel this was the one I connected to the most. I felt I could find movements better whilst embodying the emotions these adjectives suggest.
